This is the sort of knowledge and advice you can't get from a book…

…so definitely book some time with Katherine if you want some sage, personalised advice to improve your overall climbing game.

Had a few sessions with Katherine over the winter to try and hone and refine my usual home-brewed training plans, and it has most definitely paid off. Katherine helped to massively simplify and target the training to the right elements for me, and it is really showing in both the average and max grades I am now climbing, as well as improvements in endurance and route management.

Phil, trad and ice climber

Katherine’s approach gave me a new perspective and confidence that I never thought possible.

For the first time, I didn’t feel super tense, panic or feel the need to over-grip. This was truly groundbreaking. You may think I’m exaggerating, but trust me, I’ve gone through a few coaching sessions to deal with my fear, and nothing worked until now. This on the other hand was transformative.

I work out of the amazing selection of climbing walls in Sheffield. I’ll select the best option for you and your aims.

I also work on the gritstone edges of the Peak District, as well as the sport climbing areas in the white Peak.

I can work further afield too, but there will be higher expenses to allow for travel and time.

These prices are (and include travel) for Sheffield and the Peak District. If you are interested in coaching further afield I can quote separately.

What we can work on:

Technique: specific movements, efficiency, body positioning

Training: planning, identifying your gaps and specific exercises you need to train, ‘how’ to train - not just what to train

Tactics: warming up, route selection, route reading, visualisation, trad specific (up and down climbing), effective resting

Psychological: fear of falling, dealing with stress & anxiety, concentration, goal setting

… and much more. It’s all tailored to you.

What people say…

“The session with you really gave me a massive boost in confidence…

… to pick out my routes, assert what I wanted to do and start requesting soft catches. I really didn't realise my fear of vertical lead falls stemmed from years of hard catches. That soft catch you gave me really helped me pin point that fear and articulate what I needed to the belayer. So it really did help me have a healthy base to build from. {In our group} we are having these conversations and making adjustments now, and I think it's helped the whole group as we're getting a much healthier culture of feedback/checking in/saying what you need.”

Naomi Sport climber

“Thanks again for my coaching this summer.

I feel like it gave me a really lovely perspective on challenge - what it means to me and that it's almost always a choice to decide what level of challenge you want. And I've definitely noticed myself saying "you don't need to prove anything" at the start of an outdoor climbing day. AND taking the pressure off means I often surprise myself :)”

Flora Trad climber

“Katherine’s positivity and supportive approach never fails to  enthuse our son Finn.

He always looks forward to each session for days beforehand. As parents, we really value the way Katherine always manages to get the best out of Finn, even when he doesn't feel that he is climbing as well as he would like. It is clear to us that Finn is a much more well rounded climber today than he would otherwise be and it is always lovely to see how inspired he is after another session on Peak limestone or grit.”

Ellie & Simon

“Katherine! Got up First Ley (9a+) today !

Really appreciate the support you gave me when you were out here. You’ve got a great way of making me learn things and think about stuff myself, just with a hint of encouragement if that makes sense. And of course, thanks for the inspiration and instruction all those years ago!”.

Buster Martin (who I taught to outdoor climb!)
